Menopause

The Menopause is a normal process that occurs in all women and marks the end of a woman's reproductive life.

It is also called the change of life and is the transition period when the ovaries stop producing eggs. For most women it occurs between the ages of 45 and 55 with the average age being 51.

Menopause refers to the last menstrual period and it affects individual women differently. In some women, menstrual activity stops suddenly. In other women, menstrual activity tapers off until it completely stops.

It may take up to 3 years for the menstrual cycle to completely stop. Menopause is a natural event.

When the ovaries stop producing eggs, menstrual activity decreases and eventually ceases, and it causes a sudden decrease in the production of female hormones oestrogen and progesterone, and this in turn can cause a range of symptoms including hot flushes, insomnia, night sweats, headaches, mood swings and weight gain.

There are many ways to help relieve these symtoms , including Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), natural remedies, diet and exercise and supplements.
