Alternative Therapies

More and more people today are turning to various natural therapies as an alternative to orthodox medicines.

People are more concerned about the side affects of many prescribed drugs and are aware that overuse of antibiotics has caused a weakened resistence to infections.  Even the British Medical Association have encouraged people to find an alternative way to treat infections instead of relying too heavily on antibiotics.

Fortunately there are now many types of alternative therapies to choose from and many are now known as complimentary medicines as they are used in addition to orthodox medicines and the two compliment each other. It is important to stress that sometimes orthodox medicine is very necessary but at other times an alternative therapy may be just as effective.

On our therapy pages we have given a brief explanation of each alternative therapy and how they work, together with website links to enable you to find out more detailed information if you so wish.

Relaxation therapies like massage, meditation or refexology can help prevent common ailments such as stress or depression, whereas healing therapies like homeopathy and chinese herbal medicine can help aid recovery of many illnesses.

As always a healthy lifestyle, including a good well-balanced diet, plenty of sleep, regular exercise and physical activity, along with periodic check-ups with your doctor is the best way to increase the likelihood that you can enjoy life for many years to come.
